Planting Plan – Stand-alone Service

Client brief The client sought a garden design that featured a planting scheme for a long and narrow border, aiming for year-round interest, privacy, and manageable maintenance without a complete garden redesign. Design approach Given that the planting bed was only around 50cm wide, this naturally limited planting possibilities and required careful plant selection. In narrower borders, it is crucial to choose plants with appropriate mature sizes and growth habits to prevent competition and overcrowding over time. In many sections, this involved working with a single row of planting or smaller grouped combinations rather than utilizing deeper layered planting. Standard evergreen trees were strategically positioned behind the jacuzzi area to ensure year-round screening and enhanced privacy. Larger shrubs in the rear left section introduce structure, movement, and color throughout the seasons, contributing to a balanced and lively appearance. The result is a thoughtfully crafted planting scheme that operates within tight space limitations while providing structure, privacy, and year-round interest, all without becoming difficult to manage as the garden matures.
